Protect Long-footed potoroo habitat

The endangered Long-footed potoroo is threatened by logging of it's habitat in East Gippsland's forests. Under the current rules to protect this species a protection zone of 150 hecatres in size needs to be declared wherever the species is recorded. However, logging can occur within 100 hecatres of this 'protection zone'. Only one third of the protection zone is actaully protected.

We recorded an endagered potoroo in an area scheduled for logging and the media reported it. Several sites where we have reported the presence of this endagnered speceis have been logged in the past under these grossly inadequate protection rules.

You can join with us by calling on Victorian Environment Minister Lisa Neville MP to act to protect the site where this potoroo was recorded and completely rule out logging within all Long-footed potoroo protection zones.

Email the Victorian Environment Minister to protect the Long-footed potoroo from logging.

Lisa Neville MP needs to protect the site where Goongerah Environment Centre filmed an endangered Long-footed potoroo. Under the current rules logging can occur within Long-footed potoroo protection zones. Take action by emailing Minister Neville asking her to protect the sites where Long-footed potoroos are found and dissallow logging in Long-footed potoroo protection zones.  If we apply pressure now there's a good chance we can save this area of Long footed potoroo habitat.

Thanks for taking action for the Long-footed Potoroo.

In order to customise your email you can simply write one line above the email that's already written with a personal message about why this is important to you. It doesn't have to be long, just one or two sentences about why you think the Long footed potoroo needs to be protected from logging.

Or you can add a sentence or two in between the paragraphs that are already written, expressing why you think action needs to be taken to protect the Potoroo.

Or you can write an entirely new email in your own words. Remember to keep it short and simple and be polite and respectful.

Thanks!
