Logging here is also occurring without a legally required pre logging survey for protected wildlife. VicForests has not bothered to look for what species might be present that require protection under the law. GECO has surveyed the area and recorded significant concentrations of Greater Gliders and a Powerful Owl.

It should not be left up to community groups like GECO to to the work of the DELWP and VicForests and identify unique wildlife that may require protection under the law.

Stop Logging Ancient Forests of Hensleigh creek rd, East Gippsland

The Victorian government must act to immediately halt logging in old growth forest on Hensleigh Creek road, East Gippsland. Logging started again after stopping last year because rainforest had been logged in breach of the law. 500 year old trees are being cut down right now and habitat for unique wildlife like the Greater Glider and Powerful Owl is being lost. If we take action now, we can pressure the Minister to find a way to halt the logging.
